Thought-provoking jazz this week from all corners: Gil Mellé, Lennie Tristano, Deodato, Bob DeVos, Clark Terry & Bob Brookmeyer, George Russell, Jack DeJohnette... also we spent a full quarter-hour listening to pieces from Kenyon Hopkin's "Yellow Canary" soundtrack, and a two-fer from a groovy 70's release by Sonny Stitt. All that and plenty of new jazz releases, too! Thanks for tuning in or stopping by! - Kendo

Lots of special things happening on this week's show. We'll hear 4 tracks from Dave Brubeck's "Time In" album, the particularly fine, final installment of the "Time" series from the 60's; where Dave, in particular, really means business! In addition, we'll hear a lengthy track from Chuck Owen's fascinating new cd "River Runs", a concerto for jazz guitar, saxophone & orchestra. And for the last hour of the show, we'll hear randomly chosen selections from random Facebook friends, from my recent  Top 55 Jazz Tracks for 2013 list. They each picked a number without knowing what it was for. The resulting playlist (and the way it fit the station's time formatting) is nothing short of execptional, especially that last selection! We all know Who made the set work out so well ;) ~ Tune in for all this & more plus new jazz releases. Listen locally at 88.5Fm or tune in for free anywhere in the States via iHeart by clicking here! See you then - Kendo
