Duke Ellington, Art Tatum, Lester Young, Miles Davis, Shelly Manne, Billie Holiday, Charlie Parker, Anita O'Day, Gil Melle... lots, lots more! This show featured a lot of wonderful music recorded on this date by Gerry Mulligan, Stan Kenton, Jimmy & Wes and Cal Tjader. We also listened to a good chunk of "Knucklebean" by Bobby Hutcherson; his last album from a rather long run at Blue Note records before a 3 year move to Columbia; and we followed Miles Davis progressively through a few of his appearances at the Newport Jazz Festival.
