Hourly themes for this week's show! 1st hour: birthday haul, more albums I got for the big day earlier this month: Carmen McRae, Hank Mobley, J.J. Johnson/Kai Winding... Hour Two: Variety! Albums/artists I don't normally get to like Danilo Perez, Bob Mintzer... Hour Three: Heavy on the 70's and then the Virgin Sacrifice! This month it's Herbie Nichols, all of side one of "Love, Gloom, Cash, Love". Never heard it before - should be fun! Hour Four: Mixed bag... celebrating Mile's birthday, Kevin Eubanks for no reason, and a mammoth jazz odyssey, albeit a bebop one, to close the show from Dizzy, Sonny & Sonny! Facebook me. Tweet me. Or just tune in online on Tuesday May 27th from 3-7pm eastern via iHeart (or 88.5FM in NE Florida). See you then! - Kendo

Playlist for 6-18-2013 WFCF - Jazz Greats!

Uh-oh... a themed show! This week's show wass brought to us by the letter "S"; that is to say; all the song titles begin with the double curve. I love these shows because songs and albums are chosen that ordinarily might get overlooked, but are worthy of our time; and it steps up the variety factor! It's the last show in the old WFCF studio!! I'm going to miss it, especially the mood lighting, but I'm looking forward to the new equipment, furniture, lobby et al and the overall sense of adventure.
