Playlist for 3-10-2020 WFCF - 1964!

1964 Sinclair Gas Station

This week we explored jazz recorded in the year 1964; when the average income was about $6,000, gasoline was 25¢ a gallon, bread was about 21¢ a loaf and a postage stamp cost 5¢! Everyone was alive and active; some soldiering on, some in transition, some stretching their boundaries... Miles, Coltrane, Jackie McLean, George Benson, Sonny Rollins, Herbie Hancock, Wes Montgomery, Art Blakey, Grant Green & more. In the mix was some of the best and more progressive cuts from the new jazz shelf. Thanks to all who tuned in and thanks to you for stopping by!

New Video Series Reviews Lesser Known Jazz Albums from 70's and 80's

The 70's in particular were a befuddled time for jazz. Artists didn't know which way to turn to keep or secure an audience. A lot of albums were made in a lot of sub-genres by a lot of artists. For the jazz connoisseur, it can be tricky knowing which albums to avoid, and which ones are hidden gems. Record collectors can waste good money on platters they'll never spin after that first awful time. Not everyone has the free time to spend hours on Youtube listening to entire albums, trying to find the one worthwhile track tucked away between quarter hours of disco nothingness.

So I decided to do a video series (everyone's doing it) that helps you in your pursuit of musical bliss: "Should I Listen To It"; where I give you the verdict on lesser-known albums from the 70's and 80's while I whip up something delicious in my very casual and often messy kitchen. It's all in good fun, and of course it's just my opinion! If you enjoy - sharing, liking, subscribing are all very much appreciated! Thanks for stopping by!- Kendo
